This is a genuine 19th Century 2 Gallon Haystack Jug.
In original condition, with patina typical of its age. This copper jug has had a light clean with nature’s best cleaning agent (vinegar & salt) but would come up even more shiny with a detailed polish. However, we like it like this and think it adds to the authentic Victorian look.
It has the pressed lead seal on the inside top of the pouring spout, as shown in images.
It has “Two Gallon” impressed on the front of the jug, underneath the pouring spout. A beautiful rounded body, a hollow shaped handle and is completely watertight, so both useful and attractive!
